Hybrid (NY / CT / RI) $120-130k / $52-62/hour, DOE A large, mission-driven organization is seeking an
Interim Director of Budgeting & FP&A
to lead enterprise-wide budgeting and forecasting for a complex organization with approximately
$350M in annual operating budgets .
This role will partner closely with executive leadership and department leaders to oversee the full budgeting lifecycle, manage monthly forecasting, and provide strategic financial insights to support organizational decision-making.
The Interim Director will also oversee the organization’s budgeting and forecasting system and lead process improvements that enhance financial visibility and planning accuracy.
Key Responsibilities • Lead the annual budgeting process across multiple departments and operating units • Manage the monthly forecasting cycle and monitor performance against budget • Analyze financial trends and variances, providing actionable insights to leadership • Prepare financial reports and presentations for executive leadership and board stakeholders • Serve as the primary administrator for the organization’s budgeting and forecasting platform • Partner with department leaders to develop staffing and operational budget plans • Train and support budget owners across the organization on financial planning processes • Manage and mentor finance team members supporting budgeting and forecasting initiatives
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field • 10+ years of experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning • Experience managing complex budgeting processes in a multi-entity environment preferred •
Non-profit experience required • Experience with budgeting software such as
Adaptive Planning, Workday, or similar systems
strongly preferred • Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to senior leaders and non-financial stakeholders
