Financial Aid Counselor
The Financial Aid Counselor provides guidance to students and families of Anderson University, by counseling them on financial aid opportunities, including federal, state, and institutional financial aid in a courteous and professional manner. Key responsibilities include: Providing excellent customer service to prospective, current, and former students and families in the office, virtually, by phone, and by email Participating in special university recruitment and orientation events Assisting prospective and returning students and families in filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Assisting families with FAFSA verification process Awarding prospective and returning students financial aid Adding outside scholarships when award notifications are received Applying departmental grants, graduate assistantships, remitted tuition, and tuition exchange, as approved Monitoring the disbursement of aid Completing and returning educational paperwork Monitoring financial aid eligibility and responding accordingly Counseling families through special circumstances Staying current with changing federal and state laws and regulations Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications
Qualifications include: A college degree is preferred. Prior work experience may substitute for education and/or training. Prior experience in customer service, financial aid counseling. Maintaining a team-oriented spirit, and working in a fast-paced environment is desired. Knowledge of federal and Indiana financial aid regulations, a strong commitment to higher education, and experience working with PwerFAIDS is advantageous. Applicants for this position must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be detail-oriented. Flexibility in work schedule is required with the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends during peak seasons. This is an on-campus in office position. Must meet University lifestyle expectations. Candidates should have belief in and commitment to Jesus Christ and the Christian faith as interpreted through the historic witness of the Bible and the contemporary ministry of the Holy Spirit. They should possess a vitality of Christian experience that is maturing in insight and application.
