Financial Aid Counselor
The Financial Aid Counselor reports to the Director of Financial Aid and is chiefly responsible for providing guidance and support to all students via phone and/or email with questions regarding their FAFSA application and completion of the FAFSA application as needed either in-person or via phone. The Financial Aid Counselor will also provide students with updates on the status of requested documents such as federal verification and determining completion of Admission files. This position will also heavily perform SAP (Standards of Academic Progress) calculations and work as a part of a supportive team in the Office of Financial Aid. The Financial Aid Counselor will perform all other duties as assigned by the Financial Aid Director. Responsibilities: 50% Communication- Through in-person contact, telephone and email communication, provide information to prospective and continuing students regarding applying for financial assistance and the availability of federal, state and institutional aid. Ability to interpret and communicate information based on knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, and departmental considerations. Processing- Work with the student and parents to ensure all documentation requirements are met. Provide guidance and information to students regarding maintaining and/or regaining eligibility for federal, state and institutional assistance. Review aid applications to verify accuracy and determine need for additional information. 30% Perform SAP (Standards of Academic Progress) calculations 20% Assist students with completion of the FAFSA application as needed. Collaboration- Must have the ability and knowledge to assist in multiple areas throughout the office. Ability to work in and promote a team environment. Other job duties as assigned by the Financial Aid Director Minimum Qualifications: Extensive financial aid counseling experience. Knowledge of automated dataprocessing systems. Knowledge of Title IV regulations, policies and procedures. Beginner to Intermediate experience with the use of Workday Student. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or At least 2 years of experience at a 2 or 4 year College/University Salary Range $35,000.00-$40,000.00 All applicants must submit a resume, copies of official transcript(s), and three professional references including name, title, phone number, and e-mail address.
