Summary This role is responsible for leading and advancing operational improvement efforts at a facility level, ensuring alignment with broader organizational performance strategies. Acting as the primary improvement leader on-site, this position works closely with leadership and production teams to enhance efficiency, improve quality, reduce waste, and foster a mindset of ongoing improvement.
The position collaborates with senior improvement leadership and site operations teams to strengthen performance outcomes, elevate customer satisfaction, and promote streamlined processes through structured improvement methodologies.
Key responsibilities include supporting and executing site-level improvement initiatives, enhancing process consistency, and aligning activities with overall operational goals. This role develops and implements targeted action plans based on process analysis, standardized workflows, and performance metrics, with progress monitored through routine operational reviews.
The manager leads improvement-focused activities such as workshops, training sessions, and practical implementation efforts, encouraging adoption of improvement tools and behaviors across the facility. Emphasis is placed on maintaining a strong presence on the production floor to identify gaps, address inefficiencies, and support team development.
Working in partnership with site leadership, this role identifies opportunities for cost savings and operational enhancements while ensuring all initiatives meet safety, quality, and compliance standards. The position also serves as a driver of organizational change by promoting accountability, engagement, and continuous development.
Additional Responsibilities
Lead process improvement workshops and mapping exercises
Support development and maintenance of standardized procedures
Apply structured problem-solving methods and corrective actions
Incorporate external best practices into operational processes
Develop reports and presentations summarizing performance improvements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, business, or operations
Several years of experience in manufacturing or operations, including experience in process improvement or operational excellence initiatives
Ability to influence and guide teams through collaboration rather than direct authority
Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret data and support decision-making
Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction and ethical business practices
Effective communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across functions and organizational levels
Understanding of cost drivers and financial impacts related to operational improvements
Preferred Experience
Background in a technical or industrial manufacturing environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Practical experience applying continuous improvement methodologies in an operational setting
Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive improvement initiatives
Understanding of performance metrics, planning processes, and operational management
Familiarity with structured improvement techniques and production system concepts
Ability to support organizational change and influence stakeholders at all levels
Knowledge of process improvement and quality tools, with the ability to apply them effectively
Strong organizational and project management skills with a focus on execution
