The Office of Health Care Affordability (OHCA) has three primary responsibilities: slowing health care spending growth, monitoring health system performance, and assessing market consolidation. OHCA’s work makes a tangible difference in making health care more affordable.
Job Description And Duties This role will be instrumental in the Office of Health Care Affordability’s initiatives to enhance overall health care affordability through the use of value‑based, or alternative, payment models. Working under the guidance of the Value‑Based Payment Group Manager, you will support the development, adoption, and refinement of alternative payment model (APM) adoption goals and standards used by health care payers and providers statewide. Your responsibilities will include supporting policy and data analysis and public reporting across the Value‑Based Payment Group and Health System Performance Branch; collecting APM data; conducting research and analysis to monitor APM adoption; summarizing evidence‑based practices for implementing APMs; creating compelling data visualizations and summaries of analyses for inclusion in public reports and dynamic dashboards; building positive relationships with external stakeholders; and facilitating internal and external communications. This position will further OHCA’s mission of promoting equitable, high‑quality, and affordable health care in California through the implementation of value‑based payment models.
Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% ‑ 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP2025) hours each month.
