Overview
Seattle Colleges is looking to hire a Senior Director of eLearning in the E-Learning department. Salary Range for this position is $104,498 to $144,307 annually (depending on experience). The opportunity is open until filled; first review of materials will begin January 19th, 2026.
Position Summary Under the supervision of the Seattle Colleges District Vice Chancellor for Instruction, the eLearning Senior Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of digital learning across Seattle Colleges. The position champions innovation in online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced instruction and service to expand access, equity, and student success outcomes. This position supervises a team including Exempt-unrepresented, Exempt-represented, Classified, Student, Workstudy, and temporary employees. This position is typically scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. You may be required to work evenings and weekends as needed. This position works a hybrid schedule of both remote and on-site work.

What You Will Be Working On Vision and Oversight
Develop the strategic plan and vision for eLearning initiatives district-wide.
Supervise a division comprised of multiple teams.
Strategically collaborate with mid-level and executive leadership across the District.
Represent the District at national and state level meetings or convenings and/or serve on state teams.
Lead district-wide coalitions and partnerships with leaders of IT, Communications, Student Services, Instructional, Guided Pathways, and other departments to enhance enterprise-wide, high-quality service.
Develop strategic partnerships with the Communication Offices and develop strategies for marketing online programs.
In partnership with Instructional leadership and in collaboration with faculty from multiple disciplines, lead the development of new fully online educational degree and certificate programs based on market and student success research.
Serve as the liaison between Student Services and eLearning on issues relating to serving the needs of distant and online students.
Collaborate with Seattle Collegesoundation on developing grant opportunities relating to serving the needs of online learners.
Collaborate with the Information Technology team to ensure the appropriate technology infrastructure is in support of online education delivery.
Collaborate with instructional leadership to establish, implement, maintain, and evaluate quality assurance measures for technology-mediated learning.
Collaborate with and lead discussions with instructional leadership to provide more eLearning opportunities for students in new and existing programs and courses, including the expansion of micro-credentialing, digital badges, and credit for prior learning pathways.
Develop and maintain an advisory structure so that faculty and other stakeholders have a channel for feedback on policies and procedures specific to eLearning.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships within the District, state, and external organizations, including representing the Colleges at state-wide and national events.
Foster relationships with workforce, industry, and community stakeholders to align digital offerings with labor market needs.
Oversee the continuous audit of support tools and resources for fully distant students and update resources to support access.
Work with campus and system stakeholders on contracts, agreements, procurement and policies related to educational technologies.
Provide supervision of compliance with online learning accreditation standards and industry regulations relating to online learning programs including state authorization and accessibility compliance.
Administrative Duties
Develop and implement organizational and governance structures to support accessible and equitable training, development opportunities, and support resources for students, faculty, and staff.
Lead development and refinement of external communications and student intake processes to increase enrollment in eLearning courses.
Manage development and implementation of the department's self-sustaining budget; review and propose updates to the fee structure; ensure appropriate leverage of personnel, production, programming, equipment, and maintenance in compliance with state and District mandates; lead grant-seeking and grant-management activities.
Manage recruiting, hiring, onboarding, professional development, and resolution of conflict of department direct reports.
Manage department-level assessment and evaluations for employees, services, and technology.
Lead development, coordination and assessment of District AI Task Force.
Recommend policy development, updates, and revisions to support digital learning quality and effectiveness in the District to the Chancellor's Executive Cabinet.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and District policies.
Oversight of eLearning Enterprise
Provide visionary executive leadership and strategic planning for the eLearning teams, including Instructional Design, Technology, and Canvas; leverage team expertise to support student and faculty success; serve as a resource and coach to ensure each teams success.
Supervise and support the Instructional Design team; set quality course/content design and accessibility standards; envision faculty development opportunities around technology tools, pedagogy, and accessibility.
Oversee efficient and effective use of the Colleges Learning Management System and make policy decisions that advocate and promote student success through quality instruction; supervise and support the LMS Administrators responsible for implementing policy decisions.
Develop structures for evaluating, procuring, and implementing new technology tools and services; guide and supervise Instructional Technologists responsible for supporting faculty use of these tools and services.
Evaluate and update infrastructure for providing student and faculty support in ways that support effective and efficient access and resolution to problems relating to eLearning; supervise and support Program Specialists responsible for implementing these support services.
Work collaboratively with District Compliance to support Accessibility Team.
Professional Development
Provide strategic direction and oversee collaboration with faculty, academic administrators, and professional development staff to identify and ensure faculty-focused professional development opportunities and instructional design support.
Maintain current knowledge in new and emerging educational technologies and advise the District on strategic responses in these areas.
Stay current in the discipline to maintain expertise with innovative eLearning tools and pedagogies.

What you bring as a candidate (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
Master's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field OR 6 or more years of relevant experience.
Five (5) or more years administrative experience in education (digital learning preferred); experience supervising or working collaboratively with faculty and staff.
Demonstrated experience with budget management.
Demonstrated compliance experience, including familiarity with NC-SARA and/or national accreditation.
Demonstrated success in leading large-scale digital transformation in higher education.
Demonstrated experience identifying professional development needs of faculty and staff and developing effective programs to meet those needs.
Demonstrated experience with instructional design, assessment and curriculum development incorporating technology tools in face-to-face, online and hybrid teaching environments.
Demonstrated experience with micro-credentials, digital trust frameworks, and learner analytics.
Demonstrated in-depth skills in using MS Office, Outlook, and other instructional technology tools and software.
