Summary
Q2 is seeking a Sr. Business Consultant to partner closely with Implementation Engineers, Project Managers, and client project teams across multiple concurrent digital banking implementations. Reporting to the Director of Professional Services, this individual serves as a trusted advisor who helps translate business intent into implementable, supportable solution approaches within Q2 delivery realities. The Sr. Business Consultant provides deep product, platform, and domain expertise while leading solution discussions, surfacing risks early, and guiding clients and internal teams through tradeoffs, constraints, and delivery implications. This role is responsible for helping ensure solution quality and readiness by identifying gaps, dependencies, and misalignment before they become downstream delivery issues. The individual works across sales, systems engineering, product, delivery, and client stakeholders to align expectations, shape feasible approaches, and support effective execution. The role requires strong executive-level communication and the ability to influence decisions through consultative recommendations, requirements discovery, expectation-setting, conflict resolution, and clear articulation of risks and impacts. In addition to supporting successful client outcomes, the Sr. Business Consultant contributes to the continuous improvement of implementation practices by capturing lessons learned, informing product feedback, coaching others, and developing reusable patterns and artifacts that improve delivery quality, consistency, and scale.
Responsibilities
Assesses project risks and builds mitigating strategies
Trains others in best practices and proper execution
Participates in building plans and guides teams through key on-site activities
Works with Solutions Architect and Development to ensure suggested solutions are feasible
Acts as a liaison and manages expectations of key sponsors and client executive staff related to timing, functionality and back‐office requirements needed to support a successful go‑live
Mentors PMs and trains other Implementation resources in areas of product expertise, case resolution, client communication and process improvement
Supports case management and timely issue resolution by facilitating case reviews
Acts as subject matter expert in product features and functionality
Helps to build requirements and solution design
Analyzes customer’s business and makes recommendations
Responsible for ensuring that all security, availability, confidentiality and privacy policies and controls are adhered to
Helps to oversee testing and case resolution
Experience & Knowledge
Typically requires a bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 8+ years of experience in project management or the Financial Services industry, including previous experience in a similar consultative role
Familiarity with enterprise software deployment architecture and methodologies
Knowledge of effective business requirements practices and support methodologies
Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interface effectively with technical teams as well as non‑technical senior management
Excellent people and teamwork skills
Remains calm, diplomatic and cooperative under stressful conditions
Attention to detail, exceptional follow‑through, ability to prioritize, stay organized, and multi‑task
Promotes a strong sense of urgency and enthusiasm for reaching goals and meeting deadlines
Ability to train individuals 1‑on‑1 and in a classroom environment
Passion for improving processes and a commitment to customer satisfaction
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
Requires fluent written and oral communication in English
