
Medicare Sales Agent - Hybrid in Roanoke, VA

At UnitedHealthcare, we are seeking Medicare Sales Agents in Roanoke, VA. The role involves inbound call activities to consult customers on insurance needs, select correct coverages, and facilitate enrollment. Training is provided and state insurance licensure will be obtained during training.
Work Schedule
Operating hours: Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 7:30 pm local time; shift provided during training with rotational weekend work.
Full‑time position with flexibility desired based on the seasonality of our business.
Work Location
On‑site training program for 6–10 weeks on a standard day shift.
Hybrid work model after successful completion of training and on‑job nesting period. Employees may work from home up to 3 business days per week.

Primary Responsibilities
Answer incoming phone calls from prospective members, identify the type of assistance and information the customer needs, and convert callers into qualified leads and sales.
Follow up with members on questions or to review current or new products and services.
Navigate multiple computer systems to document member information while maintaining active listening and engagement with members.
Demonstrate knowledge of the product portfolio by addressing needs of members, explaining the differences between products, and assisting selection of products to best meet their needs.
Assist in completing enrollment application over the phone, staying consistent with product requirements and enrollment guidelines.
Meet the goals established for the position in performance, attendance, and consumer experience.
Meet and maintain requirements for agent licensure, appointments, and annual product certification.
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay + monthly sales incentive.
Average annual earnings: $50,000 – $65,000; top performers can earn $80,000 +.
Hourly pay range: $16.00 – $24.04 per hour for full‑time employment.
Sign‑On Bonus up to $2,000 for unlicensed external/internal applicants; up to $3,000 for licensed external/internal applicants.
15 days accrued Paid Time Off during the first year of employment plus 8 paid holidays.

Required Qualifications
High‑school diploma/GED (or higher) OR 4+ years of customer service/sales experience.
Within 30 days, obtain all appropriate state insurance licenses (may be completed during training).
Ability to work regular scheduled shifts, including training period, with flexibility to adjust daily schedule and work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
Must live within a commutable distance to the Roanoke, VA office.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous sales experience.
Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, including ability to learn new and complex systems.
Flexibility to customize approach to meet all types of caller communication styles and personalities.
