DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
SusieCakes is seeking a creative, trend‑savvy Short‑Form Video Content Creator to produce high‑volume, scroll‑stopping video content for TikTok and Instagram Reels on a part‑time basis (about 20 hours a week). This role plays a key part in growing brand awareness, introducing new audiences to SusieCakes, and bringing our joyful brand personality to life through video.
This is a remote role, with candidates required to be based within 30 minutes of a bakery (in California) to support in‑bakery filming and in‑person collaboration as needed.
The Short‑Form Video Content Creator will work from a monthly content calendar while also pitching and producing original ideas inspired by trends, cultural moments, and platform best practices. This role will also collaborate directly with Susie Sarich, Founder & CEO, supporting content creation and editing for her personal Instagram.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Short‑Form Video Content Creation
Create short‑form video content for TikTok and Instagram Reels
Film, edit, and deliver high‑quality video content on a consistent basis
Execute content aligned with a monthly content calendar while also pitching original creative concepts
Collaborate directly with Susie Sarich on content for her personal Instagram account
Stay current on TikTok trends, sounds, formats, and cultural moments
Develop content that feels native, authentic, and platform‑specific
Optimize videos for strong hooks, pacing, retention, and discoverability
Content Publishing & Management
Schedule all short‑form video content on Instagram and TikTok
Ensure posts publish correctly and troubleshoot any scheduling or posting issues
Save, label, tag, and organize all video content within SusieCakes marketing systems
Write engaging, on‑brand copy to accompany all video content
Performance & Optimization
Support brand awareness and audience growth across social platforms
Monitor performance and use insights to understand what content is resonating
Apply learnings to continuously improve future content and creative approaches

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
1–3 years of experience creating short‑form video content, with a portfolio showcasing creative range (brand or personal work)
Strong understanding of TikTok and short‑form video culture
Excellent instincts for storytelling, hooks, pacing, and trend‑driven content
Comfortable both on camera and behind the camera
Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, and short‑form social media best practices
Strong writing skills with a clear understanding of brand voice and tone
Highly organized with the ability to manage deadlines and work independently
Proactive, collaborative, and solutions‑oriented mindset
Passion for food, lifestyle, or joyful consumer brands
Experience in food, hospitality, or lifestyle brands is a plus
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent professional experience considered
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to speak, read, and write English for safety purposes
