Situated on one of the highest points in the community with panoramic views of Lake Hartwell, the Currahee Clubhouse features fine dining with inspiring dishes from our award-winning culinary team and a warm, inviting Tavern and lounge, perfect for a quick bite or post‑round cocktail with friends and neighbors. In addition to dining, the Clubhouse also features a billiard room, four grand fireplaces, golf shop and extremely well-appointed men’s and women’s locker rooms.
Our Sports Complex features a 24‑hour fitness/wellness center, game room, zero‑entry pool, tennis and pickleball courts, and the Canoe Bar & Grill.
General Purpose Oversees and maintains all facets of the golf operation. Provides professional support, direction, management, training and leadership to golf staff associates, promotes and nurtures member relations and enhances the quality of the golf experience, and is responsible for day‑to‑day golf operations.
Essential Duties
Oversee golf operations including tournaments, rules, tee‑sheet activity, merchandise inventory, range operations, player service operations and cart fleet.
Assist with supervising on‑course food and beverage operations.
Assist in the development, day‑to‑day tracking of the budget and business plan and help control expenses in relation to revenues.
Create a customer service‑oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of members; ensure associates provide a high level of customer service.
Work closely with the Superintendent and Food & Beverage Manager to ensure timely communication and a good working relationship.
Prepare work schedules and assign associates areas of responsibility.
Perform payroll tasks, adjust prior to submitting to payroll, and monitor hours to maximize productivity and minimize overtime.
Provide leadership and vision to golf staff, build people, and prepare them for career advancement.
Provide golf instruction through lessons and clinics to members and guests.
Interview, hire, train, plan, assign, direct work, evaluate performance, reward, discipline associates; address complaints and resolve problems.
Manage department members including assistant and associate golf professionals, teaching professionals, tournament coordinator, and guest services attendants.
Ensure effective orientation and training for each new associate.
Develop ongoing training programs.
Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly for labor, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
Implement and maintain excellent service to achieve member satisfaction.
Incorporate safe work practices into job performance.
Ensure regular and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as required.
Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four‑year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands Regularly stand, walk and sit. Occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch. Frequently use hands; reach with hands and arms. Frequently talk or hear; taste or smell. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Environment / Noise Occasionally work in wet or humid conditions (non‑weather). Frequently work in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates / Licenses Class A member of PGA/LPGA.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences Ability to read and speak English is required to perform the duties of the job. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience with computerized POS (Jonas preferred) and tee‑time system.
