Interim Director of Finance - part time

This mission-driven nonprofit is a growing, peer-led human services organization in the Pacific Northwest, supporting individuals and families impacted by homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges. Through housing, behavioral health services, and recovery-focused programs, it serves communities across multiple counties, partnering with public agencies and funders to deliver high-impact, equity-centered services.

This is an exciting opportunity for a finance leader passionate about making a meaningful impact, ensuring financial sustainability, and driving positive change in the communities they serve.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight & Optimization – Lead financial clean-up efforts, oversee day-to-day department operations, assess current systems (including GL structure), and optimize QBO to improve tracking of grants and restricted funds while ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Team Leadership & Workflow Improvement – Provide hands-on leadership to the finance team, clarify roles and responsibilities, and implement best-practice workflows across AP/AR to support scalability and accuracy.
  • Accounting Policies, Controls & Audit Support – Develop and strengthen internal controls, document accounting policies and procedures, and support audit readiness, including partnership with external/forensic accountants as needed.
  • Financial Reporting & Strategic Partnership – Partner closely with leadership (including Renee) to prioritize reporting needs, deliver clear and accurate financial insights, and provide a stronger view of the organization’s financial position.
  • Operational Initiatives & Compliance – Oversee key financial and operational projects, ensuring adherence to nonprofit regulations and improving overall financial infrastructure.
  • Training & Capacity Building – Provide guidance on grant compliance, payroll processes, and allocations to build internal knowledge and ensure consistent financial practices across the organization.
