The Director of Accounting is a senior leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and driving continuous improvement across the organization’s financial processes. This role partners closely with executive leadership, FP&A, Operations, and cross-functional teams to support strategic decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and cash management. Lead the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Ensure full compliance with GAAP and maintain strong internal controls across accounting operations. Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team; oversee hiring, training, and performance management. Direct the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and key financial analyses for leadership and stakeholders. Lead the annual audit process and manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial partners. Implement and refine accounting policies, procedures, and best practices to support scalability and efficiency. Partner with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Oversee accounting system enhancements and integrations, ensuring the organization is leveraging technology and automation effectively. Support strategic initiatives, including M&A activity, systems upgrades, new product launches, and revenue expansion projects. Monitor key financial metrics and provide insights to executive leadership to guide business decisions. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and enhance overall financial performance.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred). 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting operations. Experience in a tech, SaaS, or high-growth environment preferred. Proven track record of managing and developing accounting teams. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, SAP, Oracle) and modern financial tools. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence leaders. Ability to operate in a dynamic, evolving environment with competing priorities.
