Heavy Civil Superintendent

Position Overview Our client, a well‑respected Heavy Civil General Contractor, is looking for a Working Superintendent to join their team. This role blends boots‑on‑the‑ground leadership with hands‑on heavy equipment operation, requiring you to oversee crews, schedules, safety, and quality while also operating equipment up to 50% of the time.

This is a traveling position with projects across North and South Dakota, Kansas, Iowa, and Montana. Project scopes are heavy highway, DOT, and FAA with values ranging from $5M to $25M.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage heavy highway, DOT, and FAA construction projects.

Run crews and coordinate schedules, quality, safety, and subcontractor interactions.

Operate heavy equipment as needed for up to half of the work hours.

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and project standards.

Qualifications

Proven experience leading heavy highway, DOT, or FAA projects.

Comfortable running crews and operating heavy equipment.

GPS (Trimble) experience is required.

Strong knowledge of scheduling, quality, safety, and subcontractor management.

Willingness to travel regionally (per diem provided).
