Overview
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is a diverse state agency that serves citizens and travelers across all 120 counties and 12 highway district offices. The Division of Driver Licensing (DDL) is responsible for issuing driver’s licenses, maintaining records, and managing safety programs. DDL has an immediate need for Driver License Credentialing Specialists to support the rollout of a new digitized license computer system throughout the state.
Job Type & Location Contract position based out of Mayfield, KY. Fully onsite; limited travel to issuance locations across the state, including manufacturing centers, libraries, prisons, and other local areas. Overnight stays may be required; personal vehicle will not be used.
Position Overview The role requires learning the new digitized driver license issuance requirements and DDL state and federal rules, including Real ID, Commercial Driver License, and National Driver Register. You will review and analyze secure documents of applicants, pass federal fingerprint checks, and conduct yourself professionally. Applicants must maintain an active driving record with no current or pending issues.
Physical Requirements
Stand for up to 8 hours a day.
Sit at a workstation or cubicle for up to 8 hours a day.
Primary Responsibilities & Required Skills

Task‑oriented, self‑starter with good organizational skills.
Customer service experience serving internal and external customers.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment, assisting them as needed.
Process complex applications by screening all original documents presented.

Ability to inspire and lead others through enthusiasm.
Interpersonal skills required to work with many different clients.
Professional, supportive, diplomatic, flexible, and responsible.
Learn and utilize the KY Driver’s License Information System (KDLIS)/IDEMIA issuance program, read and interpret a driver’s history record, and enter data accurately.
Become very knowledgeable of Driver Licensing laws and policies.
Learn Commercial Driver Licensing laws and licensing processes.
Advise applicants on their questions and concerns related to driver licensing.
Work overtime, evenings (up to 5 hours per week) and Saturdays as required.
Additional Requirements
Good driving record, valid driver’s license.
High school graduate or GED.
Pay Pay range: $16.70 per hour.
