Temporary Instructional Designer
Job Summary Provide support for the development, design, and delivery of online and hybrid courses. Serve as a key member of a consultative team that partners with faculty to integrate academic technology, ensuring high‑quality instructional design and effective learning experiences.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, and launch high‑quality online, hybrid, and web‑enhanced courses.
Conduct course quality reviews to promote best instructional practices and accessibility.
Offer faculty training and professional development in the use of instructional technology.
Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging learning technologies and pedagogies.
Analyze gaps in current technology processes and communicate findings to stakeholders.
Manage instructional technology solutions, including Canvas, Zoom, Echo 360, Respondus, VoiceThread, and Rev/3PlayMedia.
Administer multimedia and graphic design projects such as video production and web‑based authoring with Storyline or Articulate.
Partner with DEeL staff, ITS staff, and other university units to support faculty needs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field, along with comparable work experience in instructional design.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting, designing, developing, and delivering online, hybrid, and/or web‑enhanced courses.
Experience with teaching and training, including conversion of F2F instruction to online/hybrid formats.
Familiarity with instructional methods, assessment strategies, and technology solutions; demonstrated proficiency with Learning Management Systems.
Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts in user‑friendly terms.
Efficient project‑management skills and strong presentation abilities.
Proficiency with a wide array of multimedia tools.
Knowledge of accessibility principles and creation of accessible online content.
Understanding of quality‑driven online course principles such as Quality Matters/OLC Scorecard.
Excellent collaboration and team orientation, with demonstrated success in building relationships across the university.
Experience training others to use innovative technology tools for teaching.
