The primary purpose of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions is to identify, qualify, and enroll the best, brightest, and most diverse population of talented students, which North Carolina, the region, the nation, and the world has to offer, and to promote for our clientele and exemplary array of programs to meet their educational and professional development interests. Primary Purpose of Position

The Assistant Director – Undergraduate Admissions will focus heavily on managing travel processes to include managing the annual recruitment calendar; responding to over 500 travel requests from internal and external respondents; processing event payments; corresponding with alumni to assist with recruitment efforts; and utilizing data to inform decisions under the direction of the Associate Director. The position will directly supervise the campus tour coordinator who oversees the campus tour process and the programs’ student ambassadors. The Assistant Director will serve as the back‑up to the campus tour coordinator in their absence and as acting Associate Director or acting Director as needed. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proven excellence in verbal and written communication; skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems; ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one settings as well as in small and large group situations to a variety of audiences; ability to prioritize tasks, plan work within the larger context of known program goals, make thoughtful decisions, and work independently on occasion; proficiency in MS Office applications; experience in using a student information system (BANNER, DATATEL, AdmissionPros, etc.); demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; excellent customer service, oral communication, and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a broad range of administrators, staff, faculty, students, and visitors; comfort with public speaking in large and small group settings; ability to engage with a variety of populations; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment; strong work ethic, organization, and time‑management skills; ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality of all information, files, and records via the BANNER system; willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and to travel frequently if necessary; ability to train and supervise staff and student employees; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Minimum Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree required with at least 3 years of admissions and/or management/program coordination experience preferred. Degree must be received from an appropriately accredited institution. Experience involving public contact, oral and written communication, and the interpretation of policies and procedures preferable in higher education, the field of teaching, student services or a related educational capacity is preferred. Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Manage travel for the office of undergraduate admissions, including the annual recruitment calendar, responding to over 500 travel requests, processing event payments, corresponding with alumni to assist with recruitment efforts, and utilizing data to inform decisions consistent with the Associate Director’s strategic plans for recruitment. Directly supervise the campus tour coordinator who manages the campus tour program and program’s student ambassadors; serve as backup when the coordinator is absent; serve as acting Director or Associate Director as required. Serve on the Undergraduate Admissions leadership team and chair the Open House (Eagle Preview) Committee for the Fall/Spring program. Collect, analyze, and interpret data under the direction of the Associate Director to produce annual travel and campus tour reports; assist in long‑range planning and goal setting; coordinate recruitment data entered in the CRM and other databases, ensuring admissions counselors update travel information appropriately. Recruit students and manage applicant records within an assigned geographic territory; in‑state and/or out‑of‑state travel may be required during the fall and spring. Provide ongoing support and training to Admissions staff regarding travel processes, guidelines, and procedures; assist and/or provide guidance to the campus tour coordinator on service‑learning training for the Eagle Ambassadors each semester, coordinate ambassador meetings, fundraising, and year‑end programming.
