Financial Specialist Senior
position. This position is based out of the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility, Milwaukee, WI.
Position Summary This role provides fiscal administration and financial oversight of maintenance department expenditures, procurement transactions, and related activities for the facility. Responsibilities include reviewing and processing financial transactions associated with maintenance operations, assigning and verifying accounting codes, monitoring encumbrances and expenditures, reconciling financial records, and resolving discrepancies.
The position compiles and analyzes financial information related to maintenance expenditures, prepares fiscal reports, monitors budget activity, and maintains documentation required for financial accountability and audit purposes. It also consults with maintenance staff regarding fiscal procedures, procurement documentation requirements, and financial tracking processes.
Salary and Benefits This position is in pay schedule/range 02‑13 with a starting pay rate of
$26.08
per hour, plus benefits. A twelve‑month probationary period is required.
Substantial leave time including at least 3.5 weeks of vacation/personal time, nine paid holidays, and ample accrued sick time that rolls over each year.

Shift: Monday‑Friday 7:45 p.m.–4:30 p.m.
Qualifications Applicants will be assessed on relevant experience, including:
Modern bookkeeping, purchasing and procurement, policies and procedures, accounting and auditing practices and principles.
Working knowledge and usage of MS‑Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), state accounting systems, and the Internet.
Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions; communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the public.
Identify issues and follow through with problem‑solving techniques.
