Orange Media Network - KBVR‑FM Podcast Director 2026‑2027
Position Summary: This part‑time role (24 hours per week) places a student at the center of the Orange Media Network’s podcast production.
The Podcast Director coordinates, uploads, and maintains episodes on the KBVR‑FM website and Transistor, while fostering professional communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and technical skills.
Responsibilities
Work with the Productions Director to plan trainings and schedule use of the Production Room.
Gain proficiency in Adobe Audition and other relevant software.
Recruit students to become podcasters for KBVR‑FM.
Organize training sessions at the beginning of each term, and guide podcasters to become self‑sufficient in episode creation.
Supervise podcasters, offering direction, content feedback, and audio editing assistance as needed.
Receive audio recordings, update the website weekly, and maintain a production schedule.
Communicate new episodes to the FM Station Manager for social‑media promotion.
Hold regular check‑ins with podcasters, in person or online, providing support and feedback.
Collaborate with the FM Station Manager and Creative Team on brand identity for each podcast.
Host 1–2 DJ info sessions per term as delegated by the Station Manager.
Learn and demonstrate use of Wide Orbit music‑scheduling software and Wheatstone equipment in the DJ booth.
Assist in training new DJs as assigned.
Post to KBVR‑FM social media following the social‑media calendar.
Respond to emails, messages, and calls promptly, professionally representing OMN.
Notify the adviser immediately about ethical, legal, personnel, or controversial issues.
Hold and post office hours weekly, with at least half during regular business hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday–Friday).
Follow all OMN policies and procedures, holding staff and volunteers accountable.
Qualifications
Knowledgeable of the SPJ Code of Ethics.
Familiar with Spotify, SoundCloud, and other online streaming services.
Strong writer, communicator, and comfortable with public speaking.
Organized and reliable.
Experienced in coaching and receiving feedback.
Capable of leading and coaching others to excel.
Professional and calm under pressure.
Experienced in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and partners.
Must be academically enrolled in high school, community college, or university, meeting all applicable enrollment and academic‑standing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Had been a paid member of staff for at least one term.
Attended OMN Training Camp.
Knowledge of podcasting and hosting.
Knowledgeable of live on‑air radio operations, including Wide Orbit and Wheatstone equipment.
Knowledgeable of FCC rules and requirements.
