Position Summary
The Produce Manager is responsible for leading the produce department to achieve high standards of freshness, quality, customer service, and profitability. This role oversees daily operations, inventory management, merchandising, food safety, and associate development while ensuring an exceptional shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations
Manage daily produce department operations, including ordering, receiving, rotation, and merchandising
Ensure produce meets freshness, quality, and presentation standards
Control shrink, waste, and department expenses to meet financial goals
Maintain accurate inventory levels through forecasting and inventory practices
Leadership & Team Development
Hire, train, schedule, and develop produce associates
Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action when needed
Foster a positive and accountable work environment focused on teamwork and service
Ensure proper staffing levels to support business needs
Customer Service
Deliver outstanding customer service by maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing department
Respond to customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally
Promote seasonal items, specials, and company programs
Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
Maintain proper handling, storage, and rotation procedures
Complete food safety logs, inspections, and required documentation
Ensure associates follow company policies, safety standards, and best practices
Sales & Merchandising
Execute merchandising plans, displays, and seasonal programs
Analyze sales trends and adjust product mix to maximize sales and freshness
Collaborate with store leadership to support overall store objectives
Qualifications
Previous produce or retail management experience preferred
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Knowledge of produce handling, food safety, and merchandising standards
Ability to prioritize and manage tasks in a fast‑paced environment
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
Ability to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and work in refrigerated environments
Working Conditions This position requires standing, walking, frequent lifting, and working in both ambient and refrigerated areas. Schedules may vary to support department and store operations.

Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.
