Step into a leadership role with Scottsdale’s Parks and Recreation Department as a Recreation Leader Senior, representing the city’s flagship sports facilities with exceptional service and operational excellence. This is an opportunity to work with elite sports tournaments across three major sports complexes – Scottsdale Sports Complex, Bell94 Sports Complex, and Reata Sports Complex – along with the iconic WestWorld polo fields. These venues are the heartbeat of Scottsdale’s sports tourism and community recreation. They host daily league play, national tournaments, and world‑class special events that draw visitors from across the country. Role Responsibilities This role serves as a brand ambassador for these facilities and includes day‑to‑day leadership and supervision of part‑time recreation staff, overseeing tournament reservations, seasonal field allocations, hourly field rentals, and managing Sports Complex operations. Additionally, this position could include assisting with creative work, including promotional materials.

Evaluating programs and services
to ensure quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Traveling to off‑site program locations
to monitor activities and support City‑sponsored events.
Salary Anticipated starting salary:
may be up to mid‑point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid‑point for this position is $29.26/hour or $60,860.86/annually.

Education and Experience
High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
One year as a Recreation Leader II or comparable level of experience in recreation or a related field.
Must have at least six months of Lead or Supervisory experience.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or job‑related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements
Must possess, at time of application, and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 36 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Motor Vehicle Department requires that out‑of‑state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. Note: Graduated Driver’s Licenses are considered restricted.
Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
