Job Summary Welding Sales Specialist (Open)

Location: Islandia, NY (Plant) – filling industrial positions.

At Airgas, we are seeking a Welding Sales Specialist to act as a subject matter expert in high‑level welding engineering, drive operational excellence, and advance our Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology in B2B environments.

Responsibilities

Visit internal field plants and external client sites to evaluate existing welding processes.

Conduct Weld Surveys and Efficiency Analyses to recommend meaningful improvements.

Identify bottlenecks, suggest safer techniques, and propose advanced technologies that enhance efficiency and safety.

Provide knowledgeable support and share expertise on CNC cutting systems, robotic welding systems, and plasma/laser integration.

Act as a mentor to the wider welding specialist team; provide onsite product and application training for customers to upskill their workforce.

Coordinate the installation and servicing of fixed and robotic automation projects, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.

Collect and report on market trends, industry activities, and customer needs to keep Airgas as a trusted reference and leader in the industry.

Advance the Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology to contribute to the growth of capital equipment, robotics, and automation solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent years of formalized welding experience.

Five or more years in B2B or specialized sales.

Reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and minimum liability insurance required by state vehicle registration.

Experience or knowledge in CNC cutting, robotic welding, plasma/laser systems.

Strong communication, mentoring, and project coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Welding Engineering Degree or related technical background.

Exposure to technical sales or consultative background.

Military welding training or experience.

4+ years in welding or industrial industry.

Preferred Education & Certifications

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).

Membership in ASME, ASNT, ASQ, ASM, AWS, or SME.
