Overview
As an
Instructional Designer , you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive technical training programs in support of our federal client. You will work as part of a cross‑functional team—including other types of design and technical experts—engaging with stakeholders and end‑users to develop an effective approach and ensure adoption of new systems and processes.
Responsibilities
Outline and understand end users to create training appropriate to meet their diverse needs
Analyze existing training materials and business processes to identify learning gaps
eeds and opportunities for improvement
Conduct user research to determine learning content scope and coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to structure learning paths
Develop interactive and engaging training materials using a variety of modalities (videos, user guides, eLearning, etc.) with learner theories in mind (ADDIE, Bloom’s, Spiral Model, etc.) to create dynamic learning experiences
Incorporate proper implementation of knowledge checks and compliance tracking
Facilitate training development and delivery
Establish metrics and measure user adoption
Facilitate learning management system administration, usage, and develop feedback loops for enhancement
Consider long‑term governance for sustaining training programs and materials
Qualifications
Ability to obtain a U.S. government Public Trust Security Clearance
Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of total experience or
Master's degree and 8+ years of total experience
Associate's degree and 12+ years of total experience
No degree and 14+ years of total experience
4+ years of experience in Education, Training, or a related field
Thorough knowledge of the full training life cycle and demonstrated ability to develop and implement
Knowledge of contemporary learning management software platforms
Experience with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques
Ability to convey complex information in a way that people understand
Experience collaborating within a multi‑disciplinary delivery team including UX/UI designers, technologists, data scientists, engineers, solution architects, and change managers
A collaborative nature with excellent written communication and presentation skills
Familiarity with Design Thinking and a natural curiosity for solving problems coupled with strong analytical skills
Experience with 508 compliant training
Experience working in an agile project‑based environment
Proficiency in MS Office and Training tools (Articulate, Camtasia, Vyond)
Bonus Points
Previous work experience in or with the federal government
Previous work experience as a consultant
Compensation and Benefits Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $140,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
