Distribution Designer
We are seeking a Distribution Designer to perform detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems. This role involves preparing field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates, while interacting with engineers and experienced distribution system designers. The successful candidate will acquire a working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), national engineering standards, utility construction standards, and best industry engineering practices.
Job Description The role includes preparing and modifying electrical and roadway drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, graphs, and construction drawing packages. It also requires maintaining production and quality of projects, including field data, photographs, engineering analysis, and reports.
Responsibilities
Perform detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems.
Prepare and modify electrical and roadway drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, graphs, and construction drawing packages.
Maintain production and quality of projects, including field data, photographs, engineering analysis, and reports.
Perform various field technical services such as system inventories and audits, jointuse management and permitting, pad‑mount inspections, ground‑line pole inspections, and lighting audits.
Collect field data utilizing electronic devices for input into database software.
Develop knowledge of telephone, cable, and other communication facilities.
Operate equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid‑span facilities, and perform pole inspections.
Provide assistance with storm damage assessments to distribution structures and equipment.
Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with all levels in the organization and with outside clients and agencies.
Essential Skills
Entry level with an Associate’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
1+ years of electric utility or telecommunications field experience preferred.
Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) preferred.
Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
Proficient use of engineering software is preferred.
Clear and valid driver's license required.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
AutoCAD or similar programs experience preferred.
No certifications required.
Work Environment The work environment includes both office work and travel. The position offers a flexible schedule with the possibility to work 4 days at 10 hours each day from Monday to Thursday. Time off is also available, including PTO, vacation, or sick leave.
Pay and Benefits Pay range: $20.00 – $22.00/hr.
