WORK SCHEDULE
Weekly rehearsals, home football games, plus private lessons as scheduled
JOB SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the director of the SNU Drumline during the fall semester. The successful candidate would also serve as adjunct instructor of our percussion applied lessons and ensembles in both the fall and spring semesters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Direct all aspects of the Drumline in coordination with the Marching Band and the Marching Band Director
Coordinate the Frontline of the Marching Band field shows
Teach applied percussion lessons to music majors and non-majors
Teach drum set lessons to music majors and non-majors
Direct the Percussion Ensemble
Recruit music majors and non-major ensemble participants
Assist the Director of Bands in coordinating Drumline involvement at athletic events with the Athletic Director
Maintain a local and regional profile to assist in attracting students to the program
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Southern Nazarene University is an expression of the Church of the Nazarene. Master’s degree in music
Marching Band Experience
Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a fast-paced work environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrable success teaching in higher education
Demonstrable success in recruitment of a private studio
Professional performance experience
Supervision Received:
Receives supervision and work assignments from the Director of Bands
Supervision Exercised:
Responsible for the coordination of students involved in the Drumline, Frontline, and Percussion Ensemble
