Assistant Golf Professional

Overview The Assistant Professional will work within the stated guidelines of the golf department in planning, organizing, scheduling, promoting and developing golf programs which meet the memberships' needs. The position requires an outstanding golf professional who possesses great communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate should have experience teaching and providing instructional programs. The ideal candidate will also have prior junior golf experience and a strong operational resume. The Assistant Professional will report to the Head Professional and is expected to help create a cohesive environment in the operation.

Experience Required

Class A member, LPGA member, or Associate preferred

Private Club Experience is preferred

Effective oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills

Golf shop merchandising and management skills

Strong tournament operations experience with Golf Genius

High attention to detail and organizational skills

Essential Responsibilities

Assist the Head Professional in managing all daily golf operations

Consistently provide the highest level of customer service to all club members and guests

Lead or assist in tournament and event administration, with opportunities to serve as primary Tournament Director for select events based on experience

Coordinate and execute outside outings

Assist the retail operation in providing the highest level of service, presentation, and product variety in the Golf Shop

Assist in inventory control of all hard goods (stock, demo, and fitting inventory), and soft goods (men's and women's apparel)

Assist the Director of Instruction by providing private lessons, group clinics, club fitting services, and promotion of instructional programs

Assist in creating supporting materials for all staff and Golf Committee meetings

Build a close working relationship with fellow department managers and their respective staff

Work closely with golf course Superintendent and maintain effective daily communication

Maintains an appropriate level of availability and presence around the Golf Shop, Practice Areas, First Tee, and Golf Course to ensure high member satisfaction

Answers phone calls and responds to emails in a timely manner and helps members and guests with questions related to the golf program

Provides service to members - visibility on the first tee, greeting guests, assisting as an on-course player assistant while ensuring appropriate pace of play

Maintains a solid knowledge of the game - rules, handicap system, equipment manufacturers, industry trends

Willingness to go "Above and Beyond" in all aspects of the Club and Golf Operation

Maintain a clean and orderly workspace and professional appearance

Provide basic club repairs as needed

Desire to learn and to be mentored by Senior Golf Professional Staff
