The Salem Family YMCA is nestled in the Blue Rudge Mountains and is excited to find its new Childcare Director!
Job Description The YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge has an immediate opening for a Childcare Director. Reporting to the Branch Executive/Association Childcare Specialist, the Childcare Director supervises daily operations and staff for Y After School, Summer Day Camp, and various other programs. The development of quality programming/curriculum, positive communications with staff, parents and school administration, regular site visits and staff professional development is a vital part of this position’s role and helps the Y fulfill our social responsibility of shaping the lives of our youth. The ideal candidate has a passion for impacting the lives of the youth in the community, is detail-oriented, an effective listener, a strong team builder and has a passion for serving others.
Qualifications
2-year degree minimum.
Previous experience in child care.
CPR and First Aid certified (can be provided if needed).
Computer-literate and proficient in typing.
Passionate belief in the YMCA mission and strong human relation skills.
Ability to relate to key volunteers, staff, and program participants of varying ages.
Essential Functions
Recruit, develop, supervise, train, evaluate child care staff.
Manage child care schedule/operations; responsible for coverage.
Develop, manage and achieve the child care budget goals. Operate within the parameters of the approved budget and correct variances.
Handle all site related concerns that may include staff, parents, participants or school personnel.
Ensure that all sites are maintained within the licensing guidelines of the Virginia Department of Social Services.
Oversee planning of age-appropriate activities for all YMCA sites.
Support child care operations with a focus on back-office action items, including registrations.
Support and develop grassroots marketing strategies/plans in collaboration with the marketing department.
Develop, interpret, implement, and enforce policies.
Participate in businesses/community events that promote program growth.
Create, develop and implement new programming in response to community needs.
Collaborate with YMCA staff to enhance and strengthen all programs.
Create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all members, children, parents, and guests.
Other duties as assigned.
