
Director of Finance

Alliance Resource Group partnered with a mission‑driven nonprofit healthcare organization is seeking a Director of Finance to lead all accounting, financial reporting, and analysis functions. This role oversees payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting staff while serving as a key partner to executive leadership on budgeting, regulatory compliance, and operational decision‑making. Ideal for a hands‑on finance leader who thrives in a fast‑paced healthcare environment with both strategic and operational responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all accounting, financial reporting, and analysis activities across multiple nonprofit entities, including monthly and year‑end financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP
Directly supervise accounting, accounts payable, and payroll teams, including oversight of the Payroll Manager and all payroll functions
Oversee patient revenue recognition in collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Management team, including collections reporting and patient accounts receivable reconciliations
Manage grant accounting, budgeting, billing, and reporting across all entities
Prepare and file all required city, county, state, and federal reports, including property tax, sales tax, and regulatory filings
Coordinate annual external audits and support additional agency audits as needed
Partner with the Analysis team on service line profitability, procedure cost development, and rate analysis
Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and reporting systems under the direction of the VP of Finance
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
8+ years of hands‑on accounting, patient accounting, and financial reporting experience
5+ years of management experience
Working knowledge of US GAAP and nonprofit accounting
Budgeting and strategic planning experience
Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
CPA or Master's degree in Accounting
Experience with California Medicare programs (Medi‑Cal, Medi‑Cal PE, FPACT) and managed care payers
Software Experience
Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Accounting software (ERP or similar platform)
