Pay Range:
$104,312 - $169,769 per year

Summary The Provider Relations HR Business Partner (PRBP) is a key member of the Human Resources team, responsible for cultivating strong, collaborative relationships with employed and affiliated providers across clinical, academic, and administrative domains. Acting as a strategic liaison between physicians, advance practice providers (APPs) and healthcare system leadership, the PRBP focuses on physician and APP performance management, strategic alignment, conflict resolution, engagement, and retention. This role works in close partnership with HR Business Partners, Employee Relations, Legal, the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), and Rush Medical Group Leadership to promote a positive and productive provider experience, while exemplifying the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary HR contact for physician and APP leaders and employed physicians and APPs across Rush.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with physician and APP leadership to support engagement, retention, and alignment with organizational goals.
Collaborate with Rush Medical Group leadership to align HR strategies with physician and APP workforce needs and operational priorities.
Act as a strategic business partner to understand departmental goals and drive workforce performance and engagement.
Provide expert guidance on complex provider relations issues involving physicians and APPs, including coaching, performance improvement plans, disciplinary action, and conflict resolution.
Partner with OIE, Employee Relations, and Legal on sensitive matters involving employed physicians and APPs.
Mediate disputes and facilitate resolution strategies that reflect institutional values and policies.
Maintain accurate documentation of physician and APP concerns, resolutions, and follow-up actions.
Support performance management processes for physicians and APPs including feedback, coaching, and development planning.
Facilitate leadership development initiatives for physicians and APPs in administrative or leadership roles.
Coach physician and APP leaders on team effectiveness, communication, and performance strategies.
Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to deliver seamless HR services.
Act as a liaison for HR program delivery, including leading presentations, facilitating sessions, and developing communications for physicians and APP audiences.
Support change management efforts, including communication planning, training, and stakeholder engagement.
Monitor physician and APP engagement metrics, turnover trends, and HR/OIE case review outcomes; recommend targeted interventions.
Use HR analytics to inform decision-making and enhance the physician and APP experience.
Prepare executive-level reports and presentations on physician relations, outcomes, and opportunities.
Ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices across physician and APP groups.
Promote a culture of accountability, inclusion, and excellence in alignment with Rush’s mission and values.
Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; 3 years experience as an Associate HR Business Partner, HR Business Partner, and 2 years of experience supporting providers required.
Experience in academic medicine or large healthcare systems.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility.
Strong conflict resolution, coaching, and organizational development capabilities.
Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and influence across levels.
Knowledge of medical staff governance, healthcare compliance, and HR best practices.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience working in a COE HR model.
Physical Demands
Hybrid work environment with regular on-site presence at hospitals and clinics.
Occasional travel across system locations.
May require availability outside standard business hours for urgent physician matters.
