Commercial Lines Underwriter / Broker (E&S)

Compensation Package
Base Salary Range:
$75,000 – $115,000
Bonus:
Sales incentive bonus plan

Minimal to moderate (agency visits and relationship building)
Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and grow a personal book of business.
Manage agency relationships and serve as the primary client contact.
Rate, quote, and bind risks for new and renewal business, focusing on complex accounts.
Develop and execute marketing plans to drive business growth.
Submit underwriting referrals to brokerage facilities and leadership as needed.
Monitor and analyze performance metrics, including hit ratio, retention, growth, and loss ratio.
Train and mentor assistant and associate underwriters to support team development.
Qualifications/Requirements
Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years in commercial lines underwriting or brokerage, with a strong preference for E&S experience.
Licenses/Designations:
Property & Casualty (P&C) license preferred.
CPCU, CIC, or similar professional designations are a plus.
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with standard agency management systems; no specific system required.
Expertise:
Strong knowledge of commercial lines, with a focus on complex, middle‑market, and E&S risks.
Soft Skills:
Excellent relationship management, communication, and organizational skills.
