Petra is a Greenville-based fintech company building modern loan servicing infrastructure for private real estate lenders. We're a fast-growing startup, and we're hiring to support our continued growth.
Our platform was built from scratch to handle the complexity of private lending — like variable loan structures, interest reserves, and rapid payoffs — using purpose-built technology. This allows our team to automate repetitive work and focus on client service and operational excellence.
This role is a full-time, on-site hire working under the CEO. You'll learn quickly and deeply, and be responsible for real client accounts from day one, with the opportunity for growth in responsibility and compensation as the business scales.
What You'll Actually Do
Loan Servicing Operations
Process borrower payments and manage trust account reconciliations
Perform double-entry bookkeeping and maintain accurate balances across multiple lenders
Execute financial calculations: interest accruals, reserve draws, payoff statements, late fees
Monitor loan performance and flag issues before they become problems
Loan Onboarding & Portfolio Administration
Verify new loans for boarding into our platform
Review loan documentation for accuracy and completeness
Maintain structured records across different lenders, each with their own requirements
Client Communication
Respond to lender and borrower inquiries professionally via phone, email, and Slack
Provide account summaries, payoff quotes, and operational updates clearly and confidently
Act as the first point of contact for routine servicing questions
Operational Improvement
Learn our proprietary systems quickly and suggest ways to make them better
Identify inefficiencies and propose process improvements
Take ownership of workflows as we grow — if you prove you can handle more, you'll get more
What We're Looking For
Required
Background in accounting, finance, economics, or a similar analytical field
Experience with financial reconciliations
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple complex tasks
Clear, professional written and verbal communication
Quick learner who asks thoughtful questions instead of guessing
Comfortable working in a startup where processes evolve and you're expected to help shape them
Helpful (But Not Required)
Experience in loan servicing or real estate finance
Familiarity with trust accounting or client fund management
Experience with CRM or financial software platforms
Exposure to low-code software tools
