Freight Appointments is working with a well-established international freight forwarder seeking a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to join their team in Chicago.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a fast-paced logistics environment, supporting import operations and ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit customs entries accurately and in a timely manner
• Classify goods using HTS codes and ensure regulatory compliance
• Review commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading)
• Coordinate with import operations, clients, and government agencies
• Monitor shipments through clearance and resolve any entry issues
• Maintain accurate records in the brokerage system

Requirements

• 1–3+ years of experience in customs brokerage or entry writing
• Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and import processes
• Experience with HTS classification
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience with brokerage software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes) is a plus
