Part‑Time Children’s Ministry Director

About Us: Garden City Baptist Church is a Christ‑centered, community‑engaged, mission‑driven, multigenerational church family committed to helping people know and follow Jesus. Our thriving children’s ministry serves around 25 kids weekly and is built on a foundation of gospel‑centered teaching, dynamic programming, and genuine relationships.
Position Overview: The Children’s Ministry Director will provide leadership, vision, and oversight to all children’s programs from birth through 5th grade. This individual will work alongside dedicated volunteers and staff to create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment where children can grow in their faith. This is a part‑time position with flexible hours and negotiable pay.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee weekly children’s ministry programming and special events
Plan and implement faith‑based activities aligned with the church’s mission
Serve as the point person for volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling
Co‑direct TeamKID and Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Lead regular children’s ministry committee meetings
Manage communication via email, Facebook, newsletter, or other group communication platforms
Support administrative needs including records and safety procedures
Substitute teach in children’s programs when needed
Qualifications:
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to disciple children
Experience in children’s ministry or education (preferred)
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Effective communicator and team player
Comfortable using digital tools and social media
Will affirm and teach according to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
Position Details: Position Type: Part‑Time (likely 15–20 hours a week depending on candidates’ availability) Compensation: $22–27 an hour based on experience/education Reports To: Family Ministry Pastor
