
Clerical Specialist

The Clerical Specialist is responsible for registering patients into the health information system by interviewing patients and gathering and processing complete demographic, insurance and other visit related information.
Responsibilities include accurate identification of patients, identifying source of payment, verifying insurance eligibility, collecting payment and interacting with patients and family, insurers, members of hospital departments, providers, and other team members.
Requirements
One year previous experience in clerical or receptionist position and/or customer service required
one year experience in healthcare preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required
Understanding of medical terminology preferred
Prefer CHAA certification with National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM)
Must be a Notary Public or obtain within 45 days of employment
Required High School or better.
