Position Summary

Director, Negotiations Strategy (GM & Fashion) – This role is based in Bentonville, AR. The Director of Negotiations Strategy GM & Fashion supports merchant and sourcing efforts to negotiate with suppliers to deliver our EDLC/EDLP customer promise.

This opportunity involves engaging merchants and cross‑functional partners to develop strategies that deliver financial metrics. The role works closely with the transformation organization to drive negotiation capabilities and innovation and to create a world‑class negotiation culture. It reports to the Sr. Director of Negotiations Strategy.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead teams in merchandising, sales, sales strategy, or trade to consistently deliver business results.
  • Apply expert knowledge of Walmart business fundamentals, with a focus on GM business.
  • Consult and influence business leaders with strong presence.
  • Utilize AI and/or Agentic AI to drive innovation and work with technical support to develop those capabilities.
  • Demonstrate high EQ and soft skills for clear, concise communication and influencing stakeholders.

Impact You’ll Make

  • Enable GM merchants to identify cost opportunities and achieve them with tools, training, and support.
  • Help merchants negotiate with suppliers to lower costs, fueling growth.
  • Drive innovation in analytic tools and support to enhance merchandising capabilities and build a culture of world‑class negotiators.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor cross‑functional negotiation teams.
  • Develop negotiation strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Analyze cost data and present opportunities to merchants.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
  • Implement process improvements and share best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in data analytics, project management, business, or related area (or 7 years).
  • 3 years of experience with intermediate Microsoft Office functionality.
  • 4 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in consulting and cross‑functional team projects.
  • Master’s degree in Business.
  • Project Management Professional certification or Six Sigma certification.
