
Public Relations Assistant - DTC, MS NOW

Versant Media is looking for a Public Relations Assistant is to provide administrative and communications support to the MS NOW Media Relations team during the launch of the network’s first-ever, direct-to-consumer membership subscription.
*please note this is a contract role
With MS NOW’s upcoming direct-to-consumer launch, will be responsible for a variety of research projects, press requests, press monitoring, and more.
Maintain detailed project road map to support product and PR teams leading into launch.
Work as liaison between MS NOW and CNBC PR teams on product schedule updates and PR opportunity lists.
Perform administrative support tasks, including managing press lists, coverage documents, team calendar, team meeting schedules, bios, headshots, and other assignments as required.
Assist the department on research projects, transcribing interviews and other assigned press projects.
Continuous monitoring of all press clippings – spanning all print/online to TV/audio.
Compile daily clips for executives and talent.
Main contact for all program schedules, listings, and changes.
Fulfill press-related requests as directed by team managers.
Assist with staffing press events and support the team in breaking news situations and special events.
Note: This position will at times require late-night and after-hours work.
Qualifications/Requirements
Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Must have at least one year of experience interning in communications or public relations.
Must have a strong interest in news, politics, and media.
Must be available to work in New York.
Willingness to travel and work after-hours on short notice.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and have basic computer skills.
Desired Characteristics
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
Should be able to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet crucial deadlines.
Highly proficient in time management and communication.
Robust understanding of television news and media industry.
Willingness to work beyond regular hours, dependent on breaking news, big interviews, events and more.
Ability to exercise a high level of discretion in handling talent, confidential and sensitive information.
Comp Range: $22-$25/hour, overtime eligible
