GENERAL SUMMARY The Mortgage Loan Consultant II is responsible for promoting the products and services of the Credit Union in a positive manner; increasing homeownership among credit union members as well as solicit non-members; and providing professional and timely response for the sale of first mortgage lien loan products to the membership and broker community.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION The position works with a minimal amount of supervision and direction and is authorized to take reasonable actions necessary to carry out the assigned responsibilities of the position, provided that such action is consistent with cost-effective practices and is consistent with the policy and procedures of Kinecta Federal Credit Union in general.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES There are no direct supervisory responsibilities but will be expected to take the lead on assigned projects and may oversee the work of others working on assigned project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To promote the products and services of the Credit Union in a positive manner.
Increase homeownership among credit union members as well as solicit non-members.
Directly responsible for the selling Kinecta mortgage loan products in person and over the phone to existing and potential credit union members.
Provides professional and timely response for the sale of first mortgage lien loan products.
Responsible for generating loans through outside sales activity to increase loan growth and increase revenue.
Ensure loans are saleable in the secondary market and in accordance with agency regulatory guidelines.
Assigned to outside sales activity to promote the Credit Union in a positive manner and develop profitable working business relationships with mortgage brokers, realtors, and builders to result in increased loan volume.
Responsible for cross selling other Kinecta deposits products as well as investment and insurance products.
Responsible for qualifying members and assisting brokers to qualify applicants for appropriate Kinecta mortgage loan products based on pricing, income, credit, assets, and appraisal value.
Responsible for collecting and submitting necessary forms and documentation to processing department (underwriting review, processing, funding).
Required to conduct oral presentations at Home Buyers Seminars and broker offices.
Monitors current market conditions and make recommendations for new products and services.
Inputs member information into our automated underwriting system and updates member information as needed.
Analyzes pertinent financial and credit data for submission to underwriting to meet member’s anticipated closing timeframe.
Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with mortgage brokers, realtors, and builders to develop consistent loan referrals to assist in loan growth and revenue.
Supports department business development goals through effective calling efforts on potential members, identifies business needs and corresponding sales opportunities credit union wide.
Provide exceptional member service from credit union campaigns and marketing to promote the credit union in a positive manner to ensure pipeline growth.
Reviews credit loan file and negotiates loan terms and conditions with applicants and mortgage brokers to their satisfaction.
Ensure loan pipeline is consistent with yearly forecasted volume goal.
Obtains loan application requests via face-to-face, mail, fax, telephone, and Internet.
Keeps informed of trends and developments in the local real estate market, as well as changing rules and regulations pertaining to both private and government-insured mortgages.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties including special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of mortgage lending, local real estate market, rules and regulations pertaining to private, agency and Government lending. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point.
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Ability to interact with staff, members, mortgage brokers and others encountered in the course of work
Ability to learn and apply new information or skills
Ability to observe and interpret people and situations
Ability to perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks
Ability to use math and apply mathematical reasoning and abstract statistical concepts
Ability to work under intensive deadlines
Education, Training and Experience: Potential candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year accredited university
Minimum of 3 years loan consultant experience
Previous lending experience in a financial institution preferred
This position requires compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act) and all related regulations. At the time of employment, candidate must provide NMLS ID number (SAFE Act registration), grant Kinecta institution access and meet Kinecta’s standard background check requirements.
One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education. WORKING CONDITIONS
The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
The job may require flexibility with regards to scheduling days, hours, and work location, depending on business needs.
The job is typically sedentary but may require standing and walking up to 35% of the work time to transfer files, ask questions, and related activities.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES, MENTAL DEMANDS, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be able to exercise sound judgment, effectively plan and be well organized, have excellent oral and written communications skills, work well under changing timelines, take the initiative and be flexible and cooperative. Accuracy, timeliness and maintaining confidentiality related to member, employee information and company records is required.
While performing the job duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; talk or hear in person and by telephone; use hands to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; lift minimum 10 lbs.
The employee is frequently required to walk and stand. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus to read and operate office equipment, as necessary. The employee works under typical office conditions and noise levels.
