
Social Services Behavioral Health Director

Job Description
The primary role of the Facility Behavioral Health Director is to coordinate, supervise and facilitate the delivery of the facility’s Behavioral Health Program (BHP) and related Services to residents of a skilled nursing facility with behavioral symptoms and conditions. Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee operations and schedules of a highly structured Behavioral Health Program. Monitor and ensure consistency of a therapeutic, safe program environment; periodically assess the behavioral and psychosocial needs of residents and the benefits achieved from program participation. Ensure staff providing care and services to program participants have sufficient orientation and training to effectively manage behavioral symptoms. Design and implement program functions and develop behavioral program schedules. Schedule, conduct, and coordinate multiple weekly psychoeducational groups for participants. Forward significant behaviorally related assessment and intervention information to the interdisciplinary treatment team and the resident’s treatment plan and clinical record; coordinate weekly interdisciplinary behavioral rounds forums. Liaise with contracted mental health practitioners. Collaborate with facility administration and department managers regarding resources, activities, and schedules essential to program operations; revise schedules as needed to meet participant needs. Respond to clinical emergencies and assist with regulatory agency visits, surveys, and issues outside of normal work hours as needed. Collaborate with resident participants and interdisciplinary treatment team to develop a recovery‑based plan of care and services. Collaborate with the Staff Development Coordinator and Administrator to provide required and additional staff training in behavioral management. Participate in clinical evaluation and screening of potential admissions to the Behavioral Health Program. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to access information and refer residents to community‑based services as appropriate. Actively participate in identifying and maintaining referral sources. Actively participate in developing and implementing new behavioral and psychosocial service programs and presenting them to physicians, family members, and residents. Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW), preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related human services field, required. Minimum of four years of experience providing direct professional services to persons with mental health or behavioral conditions in an interdisciplinary treatment setting. Compensation & Benefits
