We are seeking an experienced, hands-on
Interim Director of FP&A
to lead our cleints financial planning and analysis function during a critical period of growth and transition. The ideal candidate will take immediate ownership of the P&L forecasting, annual budgeting, and commercial analytics, providing actionable insights to senior leadership. This role requires a strong CPG background—specifically in trade spend management, SKU-level profitability, and supply chain cost analysis—to enhance margin discipline and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
Executive Financial Leadership:
Lead the FP&A team, managing the annual budgeting process, quarterly re-forecasts, and monthly management reporting packages. CPG P&L Ownership & Analysis:
Analyze sales, margins, pricing, and SKU-level performance across wholesale, e-commerce (Amazon/DTC), and retail channels. Commercial Finance Partnership:
Partner with Sales and Marketing leadership to pressure-test promotional strategies, evaluate brand spend ROI, and manage trade spend accruals. Supply Chain & Operations Finance:
Collaborate with the operations team to analyze manufacturing costs, SKU rationalization, and inventory working capital optimization. Board & Investor Reporting:
Prepare high-impact financial materials, variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast), and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the executive team and PE investors. Process Improvement:
Streamline forecasting methodologies and implement/improve BI reporting tools (Tableau, SAP, or similar) to enhance data accuracy and efficiency. Required Experience & Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CMA preferred. Experience:
10+ years of progressive FP&A experience, with at least 3-5 years specifically in the CPG/Manufacturing industry. CPG Specifics:
Direct experience managing trade spend, retailer deductions (e.g., UNFI), and SKU profitability analysis. Technical Proficiency:
Expert-level Microsoft Excel (financial modeling) and experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite). Leadership:
Demonstrated experience leading teams and working directly with the C-Suite in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Ideal Interim Characteristics
