Assistant Director – Analytics & Energy Management Position : Assistant Director – Analytics & Energy Management Department : Utilities and Energy Management Location : Austin, TX Hours : 40 weekly (Mon‑Fri, 8:00‑17:00) Salary : $140,000

About the Role The Assistant Director will lead the Analytics & Energy Management groups within UEM, focusing on process improvement, data strategy, and performance metrics. Key responsibilities include establishing a comprehensive data strategy, advancing energy management initiatives, and driving operational excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

Lead UEM process‑improvement initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders to design, implement, and manage streamlined processes that enhance efficiency and service delivery.

Develop, implement, and oversee UEM’s data strategy and analytics vision to drive decision‑making and operational excellence.

Partner with the Sustainability team and other campus units to promote energy performance, identify improvement opportunities, measure program success, and provide data to university stakeholders.

Manage, recruit, mentor, and develop the Analytics and Energy Management teams, fostering a collaborative culture and supporting departmental goals.

Perform administrative duties such as supervising required activities, ensuring adherence to UEM and university standards, and maintaining safety compliance.

Support the UEM mission by attending meetings, training, and maintaining a University cell phone and vehicle as required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in utility management, public works, or related field.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in energy management and familiarity with HVAC and controls.

Managerial or supervisory experience.

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams, develop strategic plans, and execute technical programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or higher degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field.

Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential.

Eight or more years of progressive managerial and administrative experience in a utilities system.

Experience with utility operations, maintenance, system planning, and work processes.

Travel & Physical Requirements

May involve confined or elevated spaces, occasional ladder work, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
