Employee Relations Manager

Employee Relations and Compliance Manager Direct Hire Salary Range:

$85,000 – $105,000 annually Hybrid in San Francisco, CA (3 days onsite and 2 days remote)

Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including sensitive workplace concerns Conduct employee relations reviews and investigations, ensuring fair, timely, and well‑documented outcomes Coach and advise managers on performance management, corrective actions, and conflict resolution Support employees and managers with practical, solutions‑oriented guidance using a trauma‑informed and culturally responsive approach Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies Manage leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, PDL) and workers’ compensation processes Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and compliant documentation practices Support internal and external audits and regulatory reviews Serve as primary administrator for HRIS (UKG), ensuring data accuracy, reporting, and system integrity Partner with Payroll and People & Culture teams to ensure accurate processing and reporting Analyze and present people metrics to support decision‑making and organizational planning Collaborate with leadership to support employee engagement, retention, and overall employee experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required; Master’s degree preferred 5+ years of HR experience with a focus on employee relations and compliance Demonstrated experience handling complex employee relations matters Experience managing leaves of absence and workers’ compensation Experience with HRIS platforms; UKG preferred Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar) preferred Experience in a nonprofit or behavioral health setting preferred Experience in a unionized environment preferred
