
Director of Accounting

The Director of Accounting will lead the day-to-day accounting operations for a rapidly growing, private equity–backed, multi-site healthcare organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting across complex legal structures, including Variable Interest Entities (VIEs) and Joint Ventures. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, hands-on leadership, and experience operating in a fast-paced, acquisition-driven healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Financial Close
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple legal entities and locations
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses
Manage consolidation of VIEs and JV entities, including eliminations and equity method accounting
Technical Accounting & Complex Structures
Lead accounting for VIEs, including consolidation assessments, ongoing reassessments, and disclosures
Oversee Joint Venture accounting, including equity method accounting, partner allocations, and distributions
Research and implement accounting guidance related to healthcare operations, transactions, and PE ownership structures
Prepare and review technical accounting memos for significant transactions
Private Equity & Growth Support
Partner with FP&A, finance leadership, and PE sponsors on reporting requirements and ad hoc analyses
Support M&A activity, including accounting diligence, opening balance sheets, and post-acquisition integration
Assist with debt compliance, lender reporting, and covenant calculations
Support exit-readiness initiatives, quality of earnings efforts, and audit preparedness
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
Establish scalable accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and system/process improvements
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, revenue cycle, legal, and IT
Audit & Compliance
Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors
Manage annual financial statement audits and other third-party audits
Ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
CPA required
10+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience with multi-site healthcare structure
Demonstrated experience with VIE and Joint Venture accounting
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
Experience in private equity–backed organizations
Preferred
MSO experience
Public accounting background (Big 4 or national/regional firm)
Prior experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or platform buildouts
NetSuite experience
