Summary
Senior Interior Designer in the Planning, Design, and Construction Directorate of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG SYSTEMS COMMAND PAC. Responsible for coordinating interior design policy, program, and community management across all NAVFAC components. Provides leadership to design team members in Structural Interior Design (SID), Comprehensive Interior Design (CID), furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) procurement, interior programming, and space planning. Executes design analysis using architectural/interior design software. Identifies risk, develops mitigation strategies, and provides technical guidance to A/E firms. Prepares presentations and performs all aspects of interior design for in-house projects across varied installation shore facilities.
Responsibilities
Coordinate interior design policy issues, program issues, and community management across NAVFAC components.
Lead Structural Interior Design (SID) and Comprehensive Interior Design (CID) teams; oversee FF&E procurement, interior programming, and space planning.
Execute design and analysis using advanced architectural/interior design software.
Identify design and construction risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Provide technical guidance to A/E firms regarding DoD functional requirements.
Prepare written and oral presentations on interior design topics.
Perform all aspects of interior design for in-house projects on a wide variety of installation shore facility types.
Qualifications
Registration, licensure, or certification as an Interior Designer in DC, a US state, or a US territory required; must submit proof of registration.
At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS-12 level in federal service or comparable private/public sector experience.
Experience must include: 1) Providing expertise in FF&E design; 2) Identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies; 3) Preparing scopes of work and government fee estimates for interior design A/E services; 4) Providing technical input for initial outfitting requirements with procurement agents and end users; 5) Coaching, mentoring, and training lower-graded Interior Designers.
