July 1 .
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Through this mission, the Red Cross provides disaster relief, supplies lifesaving blood, supports military members, veterans, and their families, and offers training and education that helps save lives.
Our Chapter serves
29 counties across Iowa and Nebraska, plus Union County, South Dakota . Board members play a vital role in advancing this mission and ensuring the Red Cross remains strong, visible, and responsive across our region.
About the Role This is a
leadership volunteer position
for individuals who want to make a lasting difference through service, strategy, and community engagement.
Board members work alongside fellow leaders and the Executive Director to mobilize support and resources for the Red Cross mission.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as an ambassador for the American Red Cross in the community
Build relationships that expand mission reach, partnerships, volunteer engagement, and donor support
Support fundraising efforts through advocacy, introductions, and personal involvement
Provide strategic leadership, governance, and community insight
Champion the values of
One Red Cross
across the region
Attend board meetings and actively participate in committee work
Ideal Candidates We seek professionals, entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, civic volunteers, and emerging leaders with skills in areas such as:
