Tharros is seeking a
Contract Specialist
to join our team. This hybrid role will support a government program on a full-time basis through September 2026, with an extension to the program possible. The position will work with Contracting Officers, technical offices, and implementing partners and requires regular in‑office collaboration while maintaining the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
In this role, you will manage and support cradle‑to‑grave contract activities. The Contract Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring ongoing contract compliance, modifications, performance monitoring, and timely and accurate closeout of awards. The position supports a government agency's acquisition lifecycle in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policy.
Key Responsibilities
Perform the full cradle‑to‑grave requirements for government contracts.
Prepare and process contract modifications, option exercises, and administrative amendments in accordance with FAR and government acquisition requirements, and agency supplemental rules and procedures.
Manage contract files, ensuring accurate and complete documentation in compliance with government policies and audit requirements.
Coordinate contract closeout actions, including final invoice review, property disposition, audit resolution, and documentation of final determinations.
Resolve administrative issues with contractors, technical offices, and COs/AOs, escalating sensitive matters as appropriate.
Ensure data accuracy in procurement systems and support reporting requirements related to contract status and pipeline.
Support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and closeout tools.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must successfully complete a government background investigation prior to start.
Must be able to support a hybrid work schedule, combining on‑site and telework, with availability during core hours of 1000‑1500.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field; Master's preferred.
Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in federal contract administration, with at least 1 year directly supporting government operations.
Knowledge of contract lifecycle management, FAR, government acquisition requirements, and contract file documentation.
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently in both in-office and remote environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to work independently in a virtual team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Teams or similar workplace chat and videoconferencing tools.
