Route Sales & Service Level II Technician We are looking for a route sales & service level II technician who has a passion for the customer and life safety. The perfect candidate loves people, is sales oriented and can successfully perform inspection, installation, testing, service and repair required on fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights and kitchen hood suppression systems. This includes confirming compliance with applicable life‑safety and fire‑safety requirements as mandated by standards and codes, manufacturers requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, customer requirements and the company’s expectations and requirements. This is a fast‑paced and demanding role with high visibility within the company.

What You Will Be Doing

Perform inspection, testing, service and repairs for fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights and pre‑engineered suppression systems (e.g., six‑year maintenance, hydrotest, recharge, battery replacement, bulb replacement and other services) as required by standards and codes, manufacturer requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, procedures, customer requirements and company expectations.

Troubleshoot and perform service and repair of fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights and kitchen hood suppression systems.

Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies and recommendations electronically or manually.

Maintain a positive relationship with the customer and pass information to the appropriate personnel for follow‑up, quotes, questions or concerns.

Maintain the vehicle in a clean and orderly fashion; keep it stocked with parts, equipment and supplies necessary to perform the job.

Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform the job.

Evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services that the customer may require.

Work in compliance with the company’s safety program.

Discuss deficiencies noted with the customer, explaining the problem and its resolution.

Be prepared to work nights, weekends and/or holidays, as required by the location.

Be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces.

Qualifications

1 – 3 years of route sales and service experience in the fire life safety industry with a concentration in extinguishers, exit/emergency lights and hood suppression systems.

Ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals and percentages.

Knowledge and ability to use basic computer functions, operating systems and software applications such as Windows, Word, Apple iOS, Android and Outlook; required to learn and use industry‑specific devices and software.

Must currently have a valid U.S. driver’s license.

Preferred: 3 – 5 years of route sales and service experience in the fire life safety industry with a concentration in extinguishers, exit/emergency lights and hood suppression systems.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Overtime may be required and the number of hours may vary based on work location. The position may be exposed to all kinds of work environments, ranging from hot to cold temperatures and dust. Occasionally travel overnight to a customer location is required. The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently lift and carry toolboxes, equipment, parts, tools, cabling or wiring. Frequent ladder climbing and checking, pulling wire, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling and raising hands overhead are part of the role. Driving is required and the amount of time driving may vary. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for this position in accordance with safety standards.
