Job Summary
The Director of Development is an active member of Advancement for the College of Health (COH) development and alumni relations team and is responsible for establishing and executing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities by building, maintaining and serving as manager for a portfolio of leadership annual giving and major giving prospects. The director collaborates with the Sr. Director of Advancement on solicitation strategies and creates and implements programs to engage donors, alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff and students in a lifelong relationship with Cleveland State’s COH.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Communications, Public Relations or related field.
Five (5) years of experience in outreach programming, fundraising, alumni relations, special events, project management, development, or a combination of the above.
Two (2) years of lead/supervisor experience.
Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree.
Experience in related College of Health development, special events, or donor relations.
Experience in higher education, advancement and event planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of best practices within the development field.
Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective team player, in addition to being highly organized, self-directed and forward-thinking.
Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills and a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery.
Detail-oriented and capable of managing large amounts of data, maintaining detailed comprehensive records, analyzing and organizing information, with effective project and time management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.
