Laboratory Director – Clinical Laboratory

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Laboratory Director to lead clinical laboratory operations , a 110-bed hospital serving Liberal and surrounding communities. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise and supervisory experience.
Position Overview • Role: Laboratory Director • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM • On-Call: Shared rotation with lab staff (call-back may be required for coverage) • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Compensation & Benefits • Base Pay: Starting at $40.61/hour (increases with experience) • Relocation Assistance: Up to $2,500 (with receipts)
Key Responsibilities • Oversee daily operations of the clinical laboratory • Ensure compliance with CAP and all regulatory standards • Supervise, mentor, and support laboratory staff • Maintain quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives • Provide hands-on support by working across all lab departments as needed • Assist with staffing coverage, including on-call situations
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or higher in: o Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field • Graduate of a CAHEA-accredited Medical Technology program (or equivalent) • ASCP certification required • Minimum: o 5+ years of medical laboratory experience o 2+ years of hospital supervisory experience • Strong experience in Blood Bank and multi-department lab operations • CAP survey experience preferred • Ability to work across all areas of the laboratory
Laboratory & Facility Overview Southwest Medical Center is a 110-bed hospital offering: • Emergency Room • ICU • OB Unit • Surgery/Recovery • Skilled Nursing Unit Laboratory Services Include: • Chemistry, Hematology, Serology • Urinalysis, Coagulation • Blood Bank, Molecular, Microbiology Operations: • Outpatient lab: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM • Supports testing for regional clinics Staffing: • Evening Shift: 3–4 techs, 2 phlebotomists • Night Shift: 1 tech, 1 phlebotomist
Professional Standards • Jewelry must be minimal • Visible facial/body piercings (outside traditional ear piercings and small nose studs) are not permitted during work hours
