Estimator (Roofing & Cladding)
Location:
Office-based (Full-Time) Salary:
£60,000 – £75,000 (depending on experience)
Overview Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Estimator to join their team.
This role requires a strong background in roofing and cladding , with a proven ability to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for building envelope projects. You will play a key role in securing new business and supporting project success from tender stage through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for roofing and cladding projects
Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to assess project requirements
Carry out material take-offs and pricing exercises
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
Analyse project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
Collaborate with internal teams including design, commercial, and operations
Attend pre- and post-tender meetings as required
Maintain and update cost databases and pricing tools
Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and within deadlines
Requirements
Proven experience as an Estimator within roofing and cladding (essential)
Strong knowledge of building envelope systems, materials, and installation methods
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Excellent numerical and analytical skills
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office
Effective communication and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines
Desirable Skills
Experience with metal roofing and façade systems
Knowledge of contract forms (e.g. JCT)
Familiarity with value engineering and cost planning
Understanding of project delivery and construction processes
