The Marine Electrician will perform electrical maintenance and training for shipboard personnel on U.S. Navy surface ships. Responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems, providing training, managing projects, and documenting work.

Responsibilities

Perform electrical maintenance and training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance, and repair of specific items of engineering systems/equipments onboard U.S. Navy surface ships.

Master understanding of production and processes.

Interface with customers, manage subcontractors, and provide work directions.

Provide direction and lead others, manage multiple jobs.

Complete comprehension of specialty trade functions, perform complicated and non-routine tasks.

Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.

Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management. Perform quality inspections on finished product.

Perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.

Qualifications

High school education, trade school or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.

Shipboard electrical maintenance and repair experience.

Ability to read and interpret equipment and system ship drawings, technical documents, and manuals.

Competence in the use of electrical equipment and tools for corrective repair efforts.

Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance.

Physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.

Start date contingent upon approval of base access.

Bonus Points For

Recent Marine Electrical shipboard experience on U.S. Navy ships.

Preferred technical/professional certifications.

Current, valid DOD Confidential security clearance or higher.

Physical Requirements

Lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes – no less than 30 lbs.

Work on and climb ladders, in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.

Perform other duties that may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.

May ride ships at sea for extended periods.

May require wearing a respirator.

Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
