
Construction Superintendent

Position: Construction Superintendent
Location: Buffalo, NY
Project: Ralph Wilson Park Project Phase 2 - they are completely rebuilding the shoreline at the park. The current Superintendent onsite has good civil background so the civil side isn't as needed because there will be future vertical work.
Reason for opening: new phase of work for $56M is kicking off in May and they only have 1 superintendent on site, need another as it's detailed work and need 2 people to oversee the site.
Pay Scale Salary $100K-$130k (or $48-$64/hr for contract to hire).
Qualifications
Strong technical and communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
Ability to participate in sales process, interviews, and presentations
Ability to work in a team environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other industry standard construction software tools
Construction‑document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
Must have experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control
Familiarity with Pull Planning Process
Must have strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan
Must be able to create an environment where “safety first” is the culture and all tradespeople work with an incident and injury free attitude
Must have experience supervising a project team
Responsibilities
Directs day‑to‑day coordination of trade contractors and subcontractors to ensure high‑quality work aligned with the approved project schedule
Manages the project budget for general conditions and site services
Develops, documents, and communicates work plans related to field changes
Maintains thorough knowledge of contract documents to proactively identify and mitigate risks
Obtains or verifies that subcontractors secure all required construction permits
Serves as the primary safety representative in the field, enforcing safety compliance across all trades
Develops safety strategies and drives a strong safety culture among all project personnel
Plans and executes workarounds, shutdowns, and tie‑ins
Builds credibility with owners, trade contractors, unions, and project partners through fairness and integrity
Resolves jurisdictional disputes with support from the Senior General Superintendent or Construction Executive
Leads regular contractor coordination meetings
Maintains daily reports and project documentation using software tools
Creates, manages, and updates the project schedule, including development of contingency plans
Communicates schedule status, updates, and changes to project teams and trade partners
Plans, coordinates, and manages jobsite logistics
Trains and mentors Field Engineers and Superintendents on project needs, construction methodology, and business acumen
Supports development, preplanning, and preconstruction efforts, including scope definition and buyout participation
Administers Time and Materials (T&M) tracking
Leads stretch and flex planning, daily huddles, and pre-task planning activities
Engages in the community to foster and grow relationships within the local market
Collaborates closely with business development to align project execution with sales strategies, performance metrics, pursuits, and client deliverables
